What this research hub is for

This hub collects the evidence categories used across ProvaDent Research Guide: oral probiotics, xylitol, oral microbiome research, dietary factors, oral hygiene and U.S. dietary-supplement regulation. It is a research index, not a claim that ProvaDent has been clinically validated for every outcome discussed.

Evidence hierarchy: current product label → current vendor information → official product support → FDA/NIH → PubMed and peer-reviewed literature → reputable dental organizations. Where sources disagree, we preserve the distinction rather than silently merging claims.

Probiotic research

Clinical reviews have investigated probiotics across caries, periodontal and microbial outcomes, but results vary by strain, dose, delivery method and population. This is why our product pages do not say that “probiotics” as a category prove ProvaDent works.

Xylitol research

Xylitol has been studied in caries prevention and microbial outcomes. The evidence is mixed enough that our xylitol page presents both supportive findings and more recent uncertainty rather than using a single positive study as proof.

Oral microbiome research

Diet and oral health

Oral hygiene

Dry mouth and halitosis

Supplement regulation

What the evidence does not establish

  • Ingredient research is not a finished-product clinical trial.
  • Vendor claims are not independent evidence.
  • A supplement is not a substitute for dental diagnosis or treatment.
  • FDA does not pre-approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness before marketing.
